(November 19, 1862–November 6, 1935), was an American evangelist, noted for flamboyance and dramatic style. He was a famed professional baseball player, 1883–91, before his conversion. After working with the Y.M.C.A. from 1891–95, he became a nationally renowned evangelist, 1896–1935. Billy Sunday declared:
