I took Abby and Flannery out for something fun to drink. Abby got an apple juice, and Flannery got a Mango Surprise. Despite my insistence that I would pay, my daughters were prepared to be generous with the contents of their piggy banks.
As we were walking up to the counter, one of them said, “I want to pay for mine.”
“Daddy’s gonna get it,” I said. She insisted, “I’m paying for mine.”
The clerk, ringing up the drinks, said, “That’ll be $2.06.” One daughter put all the change, about 80 cents, on the counter. “Um, that’s not enough,” the clerk said.
I felt a little tug on my sweater. “I think I’d like to use your money,” my other daughter said.
