HERSCHEL, SIR JOHN FREDERICK WILLIAM

(March 7, 1792–May 11, 1871), was an English astronomer, the son of the great astronomer, Sir William Herschel. He discovered and catalogued over 500 new stars and nebulae of both northern and southern hemispheres. Concerning the Bible, Sir John Frederick Herschel asserted:

All human discoveries seem to be made only for the purpose of confirming more and more strongly the truths that come from on high and are contained in the Sacred Writings.2072
