SIN AND SALVATION.
The inhabitants of the tropical zone, where the severity of winter is never felt, cannot have the same appreciation of the freshness of spring. They have never seen the nakedness of winter, and so are unable to experience the delight of approaching summer. Those who have never felt the coldness of their own spiritual death, or seen their own nakedness as sinners before God, will not rejoice at the springtime of God’s redeeming love. To appreciate the grace that is offered in Christ’s atoning death, the darkness and emptiness of sin must be felt. It was the man who was wretched that thanked God for His great deliverance (Rom_7:24-25).
