Ask the children how many of them can spell “Sunday school.” When hands go up and they spell the words, tell them you are going to spell it in a new way. Then proceed to spell it in this fashion:—
Singing.
Urging others to come.
No faultfinding.
Doing your especial duty.
Attention.
Yielding yourselves to Christ.
Studying your lesson.
Coming yourself.
Helping teacher.
Obedience.
On time.
Learning all you can.
Do not take up the words in this order, but in a more natural order, and talk a little on each point,—or, better, get the children to talk,—before you write it down. You children can help the Sunday school, and get help from it, by studying your lesson, coming yourselves, coming on time, urging others to come, singing heartily, paying attention, learning all you can, obeying teacher, helping teacher, doing your especial duty, and not finding fault; most of all, by yielding yourselves to Christ, who alone can make the Sunday school a happy and helpful place for you.
