Zenobe Gramme

Catholic physicist. Born on 4 April 1826 at Jehay, Belgium ; died on 20 January 1901 at Bois-Colombes, France . Invented independently, and promoted the extensive use of the ring-wound armature dynamo which another Catholic, Antonio Pacinotti had invented in 1860.
