similarly occurs as a translation of (macharaah’, literally an easing one’s self, 2Ki 10:27 for which in the margin, by euphemism, , motsaah’, an outgoing), a privy or sewer. Jehu, in order to show his contempt for the worship of Baal, ordered his temple to be destroyed, and the place converted to a vile use, that of receiving offal or ordure. On this mode of degradation, comp. Ezr 6:11; Dan 2:5.
