Titus Flavius Domitianus

Roman emperor (81 -96 ). He was the first of the emperors to declare himself a deity. In spite of his private vices he endeavored to reform morals and religion. For this reason he inaugurated a severe persecution of the Christians , to which references are made in the Apocalypse , which was written during his time. Before the end of his reign he ceased to persecute.
