Matthelas

( v r. ,Vulg. Mareas), a corrupt Greek form (1Es 9:19) of the MAASEIAH SEE MAASEIAH (q.v.) of the Hebrew text (Ezr 10:8). The reading of the Sept., which is followed in the A.V., might easily arise from a mistake between the uncial and (C).
