Abbey, Dunfermline

Fifeshire, Scotland; founded by King Malcolm Canmore and his queen, Margaret, c.1070 ; remodelled as a Benedictine abbey by David I. Burnt by Edward I of England , 1304 , and afterwards restored, it became the burial place of the kings; destroyed, 1560 , by the Reformers; the ruins are now Crown property. Birthplace of Andrew Carnegie.
